A 23 year old heart patient has been given a new lease of life at Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Hyderabad. Mahesh, a resident of Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh had been suffering from breathing difficulty and weakness since months.

He was diagnosed as having dilated cardiomyopathy with severe ventricular dysfunction, in which his heart had become very weak with inability to pump blood, which was the cause of his symptoms.

He was advised heart transplant as the only treatment option by local cardiologist and referred to Dr Nagesh, Chief Heart Transplant Surgeon at Gleneagles Global Hospital, Hyderabad. Once a brain dead donor was available, on 7th midnight of January, Dr Nagesh and team performed heart transplant surgery and replaced his damaged non functioning heart with a healthy well functioning heart.

He recovered well after surgery and ready for discharge from the hospital. Operation was performed with financial help from Andhra Pradesh CM Relief fund.

‘I have been feeling much better now and ready to resume my normal work’, Mahesh said and thanked Dr Nagesh and his team, cardiologist Dr Sai Sudhakar and team at Gleneagles Global Hospital, Lakdi Ka Pul, Hyderabad.
